This dedicated facility serves as a physical hub in Medan for Aoba students enrolled in our school’s Online IBDP. By establishing this specialised center, Aoba provides a bridge between the flexibility of online learning and the amenities of a traditional campus environment. ‍The Aoba Global Study Center at Nakamura School is designed as a focused academic space. Leveraging Nakamura School’s purpose-built, premium campus facilities, it ensures that Aoba students have every resource necessary to succeed in the rigorous IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), including:

Nakamura School is a natural host for this center due to its strong cultural alignment with Japan. The school’s identity is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and language, combined with a global-standard, international, English-medium academic environment - the ideal setting for an Aoba facility.Aoba students utilising the center have the added benefit of accessing Nakamura School’s vibrant campus life and extracurricular activities. This allows for a rich, multicultural experience that strengthens the ties between Indonesia and Japan. Students may choose to study Indonesia National Curriculum subjects outside of their IBDP subjects, alongside optional in-person extracurriculars and events right in the heart of Medan.

Partnership Launch

To celebrate this opening, the Aoba Global Campus team recently visited the Nakamura campus to meet with students and families. Students engaged in workshops to explore their Online IBDP subject selections and learned about the global pathways available to Aoba graduates.We are excited to welcome these students into our 2026/27 cohort starting this August. They begin their journey toward the IB Diploma supported by both strong, local community connections combined with a truly international, online school community - joining a global classroom of peers from across Asia.

Joining the Asia-Pacific Network

‍Aoba’s Global Study Center in Medan joins our existing location in Yangon, Myanmar as part of the growing Aoba Global Study Center Network. This expansion fulfills Aoba’s mission to increase access to high-quality international education across Asia.
